SECTION 1

So you want to play left 4 dead 2 online on Garena
First you need to download Garena http://www.garena.com/~client/
you need a working copy of left4dead   




ok first thing youll need to do is update your game to the latest version 
Current version is 2.0.8.3  on the 18/08/11
So i will presume that your game version will be 2077 (dont worry if you have a different version  i will explain how to update in SECTION 2)
so 2077 needs updating to the current version to do this you are going to have to update in order so start with 1 then 2 you know the rest

Ok your up to date but you still need to install the standalone patch (this is in essence a steam emulator or crack)

ok you are up to date and patched for online play :) there are just a few things to do

You need to make sure you have Garena set up properly

Make sure you select left4dead2.exe in executable settings and -steam in Game Bootstrap Settings then press the update button , now you can start the game by pressing the Start Game button

SECTION 2   THIS IS FOR PEOPLE WHO DONT KNOW THERE GAME VERSION OR HAVE DOWNLOADED A DIFFERENT VERSION 

OK so you downloaded a different torrent or dont know your game version , first thing you need to know is your current version you can do this , you need to find your left 4 dead 2 folder and go inside you will see another folder called left4dead2 go inside here to here you will find a file called steam you can open it with notepad, once open look for your patch version , on the other hand if your game will start you can simply type version in the console to find your game version (to open console press f10 or ` the key to the left of 1)

now you know what version you have you can update, if your version is 2057 or over go back to SECTION 1

1 this file will update any lower game version to 2077 (there are two files to choose from one is a torrent file the other is a direct download)
